Hacked WordPress Website Cleanup
WordPress is an excellent tool for businesses and individuals who need a professional looking, easily customisable website. But, as the most popular web publishing platform on the internet (by a large margin), WordPress is a popular target for hackers and spammers.
Research has found that more than 70% of WordPress installations are vulnerable to attacks, and the total number of hacked websites runs into the hundreds of thousands.
You can read about the different types of attacks here: hackers-stopped-accessing-wordpress-website
A hacked website may affect your placement in Google and can have a negative effect to your online brand.
Can the damage be undone?
Absolutely! Give me a call or email and I’ll begin the process of restoring your website to a clean state – quickly, because the longer your website stays compromised, the worse the problem will get.
I’ll evaluate the damage and propose a plan of action. The time it will take to fix your website depends on the type and complexity of the attack. In some cases it could take several weeks until the hack has been completely removed and you’ve recovered your ranking in search results. In other cases the fix may only take a day-or-so and you’ll be back up and running again in no time.
My website (designed and hosted by a company in India) was hacked and I called Anita at 4:45 on a Friday. She worked on it over the weekend and had all of the problems sorted by Sunday. Fantastic and I’m truly relieved!!

Note: Following the clean-up Bruce moved his website to i4design hosting and not long after had a complete website rebuild and re-design done.
I would like to extend my thanks and appreciation to you for the extras that you have previously, and continue to provide for my company. Thanks heaps and I look forward to continuing our working relationship.

How can I stop this happening again?
Hackers tend to use automated scripts, which will return to a site that has a vulnerability and repeatedly attack it, meaning your site will likely be hacked again shortly after you get it fixed if extra safeguards are not put in place. In a worst case scenario, Google and web browsers might even start blocking your site, rendering it useless.
Once your website is verified clean, back up-and-running and good-to-go, I recommend moving your site to a new secure host, such as i4design Hosting, and implementing security features, including a backup system, so that having your website go down for days on end never happens again. An i4design Care Plan will ensure that your website stays as safe and secure as possible.
Not all website developers are skilled in resolving hacking problems and dealing to website security. Just because somebody designed your site does not mean they will be able to do anything about a security breach, but I do have experience in recovering hacked websites and can help you.
